Overtaal

A history of growth and success

Overtaal was established in 1997 as a translation agency for the European Parliament. While EU work continued to be the backbone of the business in the early years, Overtaal quickly developed into an all-round language service provider covering a multitude of industries and language combinations.

1998 saw the opening of the Language Training department, which has been offering clients customised innovative solutions for their language training needs ever since.

In 2003, the opportunity arose to start a Software Localisation department, led by a former SAP senior linguist. Overtaal acquired the status of SAP language services partner that same year and can now boast over 14 years of experience in localising SAP. The department provides a full software localisation service, including the localisation of websites, marketing campaigns, media (video subtitling and voiceovers), etc. Since the beginning, Software Localisation has played a vital role in helping customers reach out to their markets and local stakeholders in their local languages.

In 2008, Overtaal merged with the leading global language services provider TransPerfect Translations. This merger has helped Overtaal keep its identity, while growing from a local Dutch company operating mainly in the Dutch market, into a fully-fledged global language services provider with a global presence, capabilities, and services, leveraging state-of-the-art technologies and providing first-class service to all our clients, both local and global
